Engineering Intern

THE POSITION: 
Our growing company has an opening for an Engineering Intern. The Engineering intern will be responsible for performing a variety of engineering level tasks to assist the Tech Met Engineering Department and Management.  This is an internship at our Glassport facility.

JOB SUMMARY:
•    Wearing proper provided PPE (boots, gloves, safety glasses, aprons and respirator while performing scheduled engineering tasks)
•    Working in production rooms both dry and wet (chemical environments)
•    Chemical transferring (wet and dry) and titration of samples utilized in processing tanks
•    Operate Fanuc Robot and automated lines to optimize outputs once training has been successfully completed
•    Accurately measure and mix chemical solutions in beakers, based off provided recipes, and analyze final solutions using titrations and etch rate procedures
•    Run test and prototype product samples at required setpoints, record results and assist in processing optimization based on those results
•    Evaluate current procedures and process flows
•    Facilitate group meetings, lead cross functional teams
•    Generate new visual work procedures
•    Analyze pattern dispersals and etch conditions to maximize process outcomes

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
•    Follow provided training and instructions to execute processing of customer product
•    Learn and perform finite measuring processes using both basic and complex quality tools
•    Strong problem-solving ability
•    Comfortable facilitating teams, strong computer skills including office suite

QUALIFICATIONS:
•    Post-secondary education in engineering or related field (chemistry or chemical engineering preferred)
•    Strong self-direction and demonstrated history of goal focused behaviors
•    Willing to work weekends and nights as necessary to achieve desired outcomes

Process Quality Engineer

THE POSITION: 
Our growing company has an opening for a Process Quality Engineer. The preferred candidate should have experience working in Quality in manufacturing or manufacturing-related position.   
This is a full-time position at our Glassport facility. 


RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:           

  • Coordinate and oversee product tests and key product runs with internal and external stakeholders

  • Collect and analyze data in preparation for technical presentations to customers and/or management

  •  Continuously improve Tech Met’s Internal Quality System and maintain compliance to Nadcap AC7004 (Aerospace Quality System)

  • Continuously improve processes related to Tech Met’s Nadcap AC7108 accreditation for Chemical Processing

  • Develop new specifications and procedures for new products and document material and processing requirements for new processes, working cross-functionally with engineering team

  • Generate work instructions, procedures, and visual aides for production personnel as required

  • Collaborate with customer teams on evaluations and qualifications of new processes and/or products

  • Schedule and facilitate on-site or virtual customer source inspections as required

  • Understand customer supplier portals to upload and download specification and processing data

  • Perform internal quality assessments and audits to validate systems and processes

  • Monitor product quality and establish corrective actions for nonconformances

  • Communicate regularly with customers to provide updates and technical support

  • Provide internal trainings on quality procedures and best practices

  • Ensure compliance to timeline and quality for various phases of engineering processes

  • Design and implement statistical sampling plans where appropriate to gain process insight and identify potential process control weaknesses        

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred    

  • Minimum of 2+ years of quality engineering experience preferred

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer preferred

  • Project management skills required

  • Chemical background a plus

  • Demonstrated high level organizational skills

  • Professional customer communications expertise

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools

Chemical Milling Technician I

Providing services to the Aerospace, Medical, Military and Commercial markets with precision chemical milling on fabricated components since 1988, we specialize in complex and precise chemical milling for build to print and custom projects on a wide variety of materials.  


THE POSITION: 
Our growing company has an opening for a Chemical Milling Technician I. The preferred candidate should have experience working in a manufacturing or manufacturing-related position.  This position performs chemical milling operations in support of production.   This position may involve exposure to hazardous chemicals and requires the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment, which is supplied by the company.  This is a full-time position, to start on second shift operations for 6-12 months for training at our Glassport facility and then transition to daylight shift operations at our Donora facility. 
 

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: 

  • Etches specified portions of metal parts and materials using immersion equipment, templates, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments.

  • Reads and signs off on all requirements of the Job Control Form (JCN) and process specifications to determine etch rate, finished dimensions, and method and sequence of operations.

  • Cleans surface of parts and materials to ensure uniform adhesion of maskant.

  • Immerses parts in and out of tanks and measures specified removal using precision measuring instruments.

  • May require the operation of overhead cranes and various types of machine tools.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

  •  Minimum of a high school diploma or a general education diploma (GED).

  • Requires Heavy Lifting of Parts 30lbs + and up to 100lbs with assistance.

  • Must be able to read & use a non-metric measuring tape.

  • Must be able to count & perform simple mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, & division).

  • Ability to work overtime and various schedules when necessary including weekend hours and/or evenings.
